Cheese Off Cracker was performed at the 2023 Sydney Fringe Festival, at the Erskineville Town Hall, or Emerging Artist Sharehouse.
Synopsis: Leanne used the metaphor of cheese production to look at stages in the maturing of a human.
Through personal anecdotes and song (and a few silly poems and raps), Leanne shared the swings and roundabouts of growing up in the 70’s to now. Whimsical and yet quite personal and revelatory, Cheese Off Cracker showed that the more diverse our experiences in life, the more rounded a person we are likely to be. And the importance of finding joy in our life, especially in these post-Covid times.
Weird bits: flinging a spider into the audience while telling the REAL story of Little Miss Muffett.
Sad bits: candid talk of her experience of Cancer – but spoiler alert – she survived!
Highlights included a singalong of the anthem banger “Cheese off Cracker” (sounding suspiciously like Where’s Your Head At, mashed into Dragula), with everyone singing from the lyric sheet provided, like gospel hour at Church!
